We Love Biking As Much As You Do.

A cycling enthusiast since 2008, Sharon is the former president of Peninsula Bicycling Association in Newport News, where she led local club rides and served as event director for two large fundraising century rides from 2014 to 2019. She has ridden her bike as far south as Key West and as far north as Michigan’s UP and from the mid-west to the Atlantic Ocean and all between. She has completed many century rides over the last dozen years. She started Magical Mystery Bike Tours in 2017. She’s been offering tours since then. What started as a way to plan and lead tours for friends has blossomed into an exciting enterprise that shows cyclists from all over the world about Virginia’s beauty!

After moving to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia in 2019, Sharon continued to offer Magical Mystery Bike Tours to share her love of cycling with folks on both sides of the state and beyond. When Covid-19 made group tours impossible, Sharon struck out on her own with a few close friends. Exploring the iconic bike routes and hiking trails of her new home—places like the New River Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, Burke’s Garden, Virginia Creeper Trail, and hiking McAfee Knob, Dragon’s Tooth and Tinker Cliffs—Sharon discovered the unique gems that turn an ordinary trip into an unforgettable adventure.

Sharon’s explorations have led her along railroad trestles, past colonial-era James River plantations, to panoramic waterfalls and to the doorsteps of boutique hotels, craft breweries and wineries, and restaurants highlighting local, seasonal fare. She is eager to share these discoveries with you via different tours. Whether you’re looking for a climbing challenge in the Blue Ridge Mountains or a flat route on the east coast of Virginia or one of many rail trails, Sharon will open doors to places you may have never found on your own and help you create memories that last a lifetime.

Our Support Staff

“Captain Overpacker”

Sharon is joined by “Captain Overpacker,” her long-time SAG (support and gear) director. They met leading bike rides for the club in 2010. He received his nickname on a group ride in the middle of nowhere, when Sharon pulled up to a stop sign and found him eating a slice of pizza retrieved from his giant handlebar bag. Already known as the guy who had anything and everything you could possibly need, the name stuck.

When she was building out her support team, Captain Overpacker was the perfect guy for the job. He is always thinking ahead and quite resourceful. Scott is also a skilled bike mechanic, licensed ham radio operator and notorious VW enthusiast with a You Tube channel called “StealthGTI”.

“Fly Girl”

Sharon is also joined by another close friend she met hiking in 2019, who we lovingly have nicknamed her “fly girl.” As a former flight attendant, she is skilled in handling the job of keeping you nourished and hydrated during your bicycle vacation with us.

Originally from New York, she has called Roanoke Valley her home for the last 22 years. She is an avid cyclist and hiker and has travelled with Sharon scouting and exploring for the last four years.

She is a mom to an adult daughter and a four-legged wonder dog, Koda. Her husband of 26 years travels the world as a 747 captain.

Our additional support team members consists of about a dozen other friends from across the state that will be shuttling you, your bikes and your luggage as we move from location to location during the tours. The volunteers will rotate depending on our location. Most are cyclists themselves and they will facilitate an up-close and personal connection to the places we ride, inspiring you to have a closer look.
